WordPress + Slidepress + NextGen Gallery: Geeky Tech Stuff Alert

If you have no idea what the title of this post means, just move on…

My former life as a web designer and programmer has helped me figure out a lot of things for my websites and blogs, so I just wanted to share something with other webmasters who may be looking for a solution to this problem. I figured out a way to use the SlidePress plug-in for WordPress to display slideshows from galleries generated with the Nextgen Gallery plug-in. The NextGen gallery plug-in is great for uploading and organizing images, but the slideshows it generates are not that great. The SlidePress plug-in is awesome for generating slideshows using SlideShow Pro, but not great and managing and uploading images.

So now you can get the best of both worlds.

I just modified the “SlidePress to NextGEN Gallery Bridge” file from Michael Visser: http://www.visser.com.au/blog/slidepress-to-nextgen-gallery-bridge/ .

To download the modified file and instructions, just download the file from my server: http://fongphotography.com/wordpressplugins/NextgentoSlidepressBridgevl_slidepress-0.2Modified.zip

I was not aware of the NextGEN Gallery Slidepress XML plug-in. I just tried it and it works, but I had to put the full URL to the xml.php file rather than just a relative path to get it to work. Other than that it does the same thing and has more options that the one I am using. Good find, thanks!
