OK, so it was hardly small or casual. It was an amazing tent set up right on the beach in Coronado.

I had the opportunity to attend Chef Daniel Barron’s “pop up” restaurant event a month ago. His new venture is called Evolve Cuisine. The first event was incredible and I shot a few photos of each dish.
After showing him the photos, he agreed to let me really shoot his next event, The Cambrian Event. I shot it as long as he agreed to feed me!
I can’t describe all the details of each dish, but if you’ve ever seen Top Chef or Iron Chef, you get the idea. Daniel specializes on molecular gastronomy and creates the most unusual dishes I have ever tried.

One of the many highlights was going to Joe Biden’s house for a “backyard barbeque”. What a great party!

This is the second year I’ve been at our friends’ charity race. This year I had a more official role as photographer/videographer. They have done an amazing job raising money for Rady Children’s Hospital.
Even more amazing was that due to a police incident which happened over night, they had to move the entire race to a different location the morning of the race! I was amazed at how well they handled the unexpected move.
And for those of you from San Diego, yes that’s Derek Togerson from NBC San Diego 7/39 who emceed the event and did an incredible job.

My wife and kids and I flew to Sacramento for my grandmother’s 99th birthday. Too bad we couldn’t stay longer. We flew in the morning of the party and left the next morning.
It was great to see everyone!
Of course I can’t go to such a big party without bringing all my camera gear…

Yes, I am still running way behind with such a busy month for weddings. But I just wanted to post a few photos from Katelyn and Rodney’s wedding at the Hotel Del.
I also wanted to post about this wedding since it’s not often you get to see a surprise performance from a Tony award winning singer and his wife. Christian Hoff won a Tony award for his role in the Broadway musical, The Jersey Boys. He is a friend of the family and surprised Katelyn and Rodney with a beautiful song and awesome performance.
Although Katelyn and Rodney did not hire a videographer, I was able to quickly set up simple lighting and shoot the video of the performance.
