The thing about being a wedding photographer is that you can’t call in sick. Or, if I was ever too sick to shoot a wedding, I would have to be on my death bed.

Long story short, the night before while celebrating my 11th wedding anniversary, my wife and I got a bad case of food poisoning. After a sleepless night, the next day, a mere hour before I was supposed to leave for the wedding, I was lying on the couch barely able to move. It’s times like this that you just do what you have to do.

I have no idea how I got myself through the day, but let’s just say adrenaline is a beautiful thing. I never told Marisa or James since I didn’t want them to worry. This was definitely a tough day!

Of course, Marisa and James made things easy. They are both so natural and photogenic. And Marisa did such a great job with all the details of the day. It was simply amazing!  The Arbor Terrace and The Grand Tradition was awesome as usual. I love photographing weddings there with all the great locations for photos. And the decor and flowers by Shawn Adams of Ambiance Designs were stunning.

I had the pleasure of photographing Kelley’s sister’s wedding last year, and now I got the chance to shoot her little sister’s wedding too. I am always thankful to have previous clients book me for other weddings in their family. I guess I must have done an OK job .

Although I don’t get to shoot a lot of weddings at the Paradise Point Resort and Spa, I love shooting there. There is such a variety of locations and settings to shoot. There’s the beach off Mission Bay, all the jungle-like foliage and paths through the property, the lagoons with platforms and bridges, and the list goes on. We even got some cool shots in the men’s bathroom! (You can probably tell which photo was in the bathroom.)

Nanette and Todd had a beautiful, intimate ceremony at the arbor at Presidio Park in San Diego. Although I only shot the ceremony for a couple hours, there were so many great photo opportunities with their three children there and the beautiful flowers by Ogranic Elements.

As you can see, even with a couple hours of coverage, we can still get a lot done!
